Miami airport shuttle pickups for groups and cruise passengers
A lot of the groups landing at MIA are only passing through on their way to a ship, while others are here for a wedding in Coral Gables or a long weekend on South Beach. Both start at the same place: Level 1.
Level 1 outside the terminal
Ground transportation at Miami International is on Level 1, outside the terminal. MIA has North, Central and South terminals, so tell us your airline, and the driver will settle the exact meeting point with you ahead of time. Keep one phone on and call once every bag is collected.

Cruise groups: Concourse D Door 1 and Concourse J Door 33
Cruise buses load at two doors: Door 1 in Concourse D and Door 33 in Concourse J. PortMiami is only about 7 to 9 miles from the airport, so the drive is short, but the port has its own rules: a ground transport company must carry a GTS Go-Pass transponder and hold an active PortMiami business permit, and motorcoaches need a USDOT MC number. Tell us when your trip ends at a ship, so the vehicle on your quote is one that can make the port run.
Most cruise lines also offer MIA-to-port transfers. A private vehicle makes more sense when your group wants to travel together, stop at a hotel on the way, or board at a time that suits you rather than the line's schedule.

Worth knowing at Miami International Airport
- PortMiami is about 7-9 miles from MIA.
- Metrorail and Tri-Rail reached via the MIA Mover.
- MIA Mover links Central Terminal to Rental Car Center / Miami Intermodal Center.
Brickell, South Beach, Doral or Fort Lauderdale
Downtown is about 8 miles from MIA, roughly 15 to 30 minutes off-peak. Groups spread out from there: conference teams to the Miami Beach Convention Center, wedding guests to Coral Gables or Coconut Grove, sports fans to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. A Sprinter van rental with driver covers up to 19 guests, and a coach takes bigger parties.
The MIA Mover, Metrorail and Tri-Rail
From the Central Terminal, the MIA Mover runs to the Rental Car Center and the Miami Intermodal Center, where you can reach Metrorail and Tri-Rail. That suits a solo traveller. A group with cruise luggage, car seats or garment bags will find one vehicle from the curb far less work.
Questions
Where do cruise buses pick up at Miami International?
Door 1 in Concourse D or Door 33 in Concourse J. Your confirmation will say which applies.
How far is MIA from PortMiami?
About 7 to 9 miles. Build in extra time on ship days, when traffic around the port can build up.
Why book a private transfer when the cruise line offers one?
A private vehicle keeps your group together, lets you stop at a hotel on the way and runs to your timing. The cruise-line transfer may suit you if none of that matters.
