Group Transport

New York City minibus rental and Sprinter vans with a driver

Three airports, hotels on streets where buses can barely stop, and shows that all let out at once: a New York City minibus rental or a Sprinter van with a driver keeps your group together through all of it.

Landing at JFK, LaGuardia or Newark as a group

Groups often notice too late that half the party lands at JFK and half at Newark, on opposite sides of the Hudson. Send every flight and we'll plan a vehicle for each airport or one with a sensible wait.

Your JFK driver will be waiting for you inside your terminal, in its ground transportation area. LaGuardia varies by terminal: across the street at A, Level 2 of the garage at B, the inner Arrivals lane at C. No waiting is allowed at Newark's terminal curb, so your driver waits it out in the cell phone lot beside the P4 garage.

Getting a minibus or Sprinter van to a Midtown hotel

Between 32nd and 59th Streets, Fifth Avenue is off limits for bus pickups and drop-offs. Idling is capped at three minutes, and buses must stay on truck routes except for the final stretch to your door. Parkways and the FDR need a special permit for buses, which is why a coach route can look longer than the one on your phone.

A Sprinter van copes with a Midtown side street far better than a full-size coach. Give us the hotel's exact address and any side entrance, and be downstairs with bags before the vehicle pulls up. Three minutes goes quickly with 20 suitcases.

Broadway nights, Javits days and games across the river

Theater groups do best with a pickup point a block or two from the theater rather than right outside it, where every show empties at once. For the Javits Center on Eleventh Avenue, a hotel-to-hall shuttle loop spares a conference team the midday taxi scramble.

MetLife Stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and UBS Arena is out in Elmont, so book enough hours for the drive back when every road out is full. A party bus to a Knicks or Rangers game at Madison Square Garden turns the ride into part of the night.

Day trips from the city

Woodbury Common makes an easy shopping day. For a longer one, try West Point, Philadelphia or Atlantic City. Washington, DC is 4.5 to 5.5 hours each way, which pushes against a driver's legal daily limits once you add sightseeing, so treat it as an overnight or a one-way trip.

Questions

Can the driver wait outside our Midtown hotel?

Not for long. Idling is limited to three minutes, so the driver will usually hold nearby. Call when the group reaches the lobby.

Is a Sprinter van or a minibus better for a Broadway night?

Up to 19 people, a Sprinter is easier to load on a crowded Theater District street. Beyond that, a midsize coach keeps everyone in one vehicle instead of two.

Can a bus park in Lower Manhattan while we visit the 9/11 Memorial?

Buses may not park in Lower Manhattan for more than three hours, so plan a drop-off and a return pickup, especially if you add the Statue of Liberty ferry from The Battery.
