Group Transport

Sprinter van rental with driver for 17 to 19 passengers

For small groups, the Sprinter is hard to beat. It fits a family, a bridal party, a wine tour or an executive team, and it goes places a bus cannot.

17 to 19 passengers, and room to stand

A passenger Sprinter of this size seats 17 to 19 passengers, plus the driver. The high roof gives about 75 inches of standing height, so you can walk to your seat instead of crouching, which matters more than you would think in formal wear or with a toddler on your hip. USB-C ports keep phones charged on the way.

For families it is often the one vehicle that keeps everyone together without stepping up to a bus: grandparents, cousins and car seats in one cabin, with one driver and one set of directions.

Wheelbase and luggage

Sprinters come in 144-inch and 170-inch wheelbases, and the cargo area behind the last row varies with length. For an airport run with a suitcase each, ask for the longer version; for a wine tour with a few bags, either will do. Tell us your bag count when you ask for a quote.

Where a Sprinter van rental with driver beats a bigger bus

A Sprinter of this size is past the 16-seat threshold, so its driver needs a CDL passenger endorsement, but its size still lets it use hotel driveways, narrow streets and winery lanes that a coach cannot. In New Orleans' Garden District, which bans buses over 20 seats, a Sprinter is often the answer. It is the usual choice for airport transfers, wine tours and corporate travel.

It is not exempt from every rule, though. San Francisco restricts vehicles carrying eight or more passengers on a list of streets, so give us exact addresses and the operator will plan the route.

Questions

How many people fit in a Sprinter van?

17 to 19 passengers, plus the driver.

Can I stand up in a Sprinter?

Yes. The high roof gives about 75 inches of standing height.

Is a Sprinter good for airport transfers?

Yes. Ask for the longer 170-inch wheelbase if everyone has a suitcase.

Does a Sprinter driver need a CDL?

Yes. With 17 to 19 passengers plus the driver, it is designed for 16 or more, so the driver needs a CDL passenger endorsement. On interstate for-hire trips it is also a federally regulated commercial vehicle.
