Minibus and Sprinter rental in Boston for groups on the move
Boston packs a lot into a small space, and so does a good group weekend here: the Freedom Trail in the morning, lunch at Faneuil Hall, a Red Sox game at night. A minibus rental or a Sprinter van with a driver lets everyone do all of it together, with nobody hunting for parking.
Logan is close, but the pickup still needs planning
Logan sits about 3 miles from downtown, which is lovely when the hotel is ten or twenty minutes away. The catch is that limousine pickups at Logan are by prior reservation only, and commercial vehicles cannot wait in the Cell Phone Lot. The driver needs your flight number ahead, and the group should head for the limo stand for its terminal rather than the general curb.
If your party is split across Terminal A and Terminal E, say so when you ask for a quote.

Getting a minibus around Back Bay and downtown
Boston is not built for big vehicles. Storrow Drive is closed to buses, so the driver takes another route, which can add a few minutes. Downtown tour bus stops usually allow 15 minutes, and buses cannot wait at meters or idle for more than five. In practice, your group should be in the lobby, bags in hand, when the vehicle pulls up.
For a long stop, such as a full Freedom Trail walk or a visit to the USS Constitution, the vehicle can wait at the Autoport in Charlestown if the operator arranges it ahead.
Salem, Concord, Plymouth and the Cape as day trips
Salem is about 15 miles away, Lexington and Concord about 16, and Plymouth about 40, so a family or school group can fit two into one day. October weekends are the busiest time in Salem, so book early.
Newport and Cape Cod are each about 70 miles out. A Sprinter van with a driver suits a wedding party staying on the Cape or friends spending a day in Newport.
Fenway, TD Garden and the long drive to Foxborough
TD Garden sits right above North Station and Fenway Park is in Fenway-Kenmore, so both are easy drop-offs if you agree a pickup corner before the game. Gillette Stadium is different: it is in Foxborough, well south of the city, and game-day traffic is heavy. A party bus or minibus rental for a Patriots or Revolution game means nobody has to be the designated driver.
Questions
Can a Sprinter van pick us up at Logan without booking ahead?
No. Logan only allows limousine service booked by prior reservation. Book before you fly, and send the flight number so pickup timing tracks your actual landing.
Where does the vehicle wait while we walk the Freedom Trail?
Downtown stops are short, usually 15 minutes, so for a longer visit the operator can arrange a space at the Autoport in Charlestown and return at a set time.
What shapes the cost of a Boston group trip?
Date, hours, mileage, vehicle size, waiting time, tolls and parking. The quote covers the entire vehicle and its driver, and you are not charged anything before you accept it.
