Group Transport

SFO airport shuttle and charter pickups for groups

Tech offsites, wedding parties bound for wine country and families on a West Coast trip all land at SFO. The pickup rules are simple, and one of them is non-negotiable: charters must be pre-arranged.

Charter pickups in the Arrivals-level courtyards

At SFO, a charter pickup has to be pre-arranged, and it happens in the courtyards on the Arrivals and Baggage Claim level. That rule is why we confirm the booking, the vehicle and the driver before you fly. For a Sprinter or an SUV, the precise meeting point is agreed with the driver in advance.

Terminals

  • International Terminal
  • Terminal 3
  • Terminal 2
  • Harvey Milk Terminal 1

Worth knowing at San Francisco International Airport

  • AirTrain links all terminals, BART and the Rental Car Center.
  • SFO BART station is in the International Terminal.

Four terminals, one AirTrain

SFO's terminals are the International Terminal, Harvey Milk Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. If your group lands at more than one, the AirTrain links them all, so the simplest plan is usually to regroup at one terminal and meet the vehicle together. Tell us every flight so we can suggest which terminal makes sense.

Into the city: restricted streets and hotel stops

Downtown is about 14 miles away, roughly 25 to 45 minutes off-peak. San Francisco restricts vehicles carrying eight or more passengers, and those over three tons, on a list of streets, and tour buses may not idle for more than five minutes or double-park. For hotels in Union Square, Nob Hill or the Financial District, send the exact address so the operator can find a legal place to stop.

A Sprinter van rental with driver is often the easiest vehicle for downtown hotels. A larger coach is fine for Moscone Center or Fisherman's Wharf but needs more planning for steep, narrow streets.

Straight from SFO to wine country or Muir Woods

The drive to Napa or Sonoma is about 46 miles from the city, roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. Muir Woods needs a reservation and turns away any vehicle longer than 35 feet; a bus between 30 and 35 feet has to come in by Highway 1 and Frank Valley Road. If your group is going straight from the airport to either, tell us so the vehicle fits the destination as well as the terminal.
