Minibus and party bus rental in New Orleans
New Orleans is a celebration city, and groups come for weddings, bachelorette weekends, conventions and reunions. Getting around by minibus rental, party bus or Sprinter van with a driver is easy once you know the rules the old neighborhoods set for vehicles.
Why group size decides your French Quarter plan
The French Quarter is strict about buses. Buses shorter than 31 feet have to keep to signed bus routes. Longer ones, 31 feet and up, need an oversize load permit from Public Works, arranged in advance. Loading has a 15-minute limit, and idling is capped at 10 minutes. For most groups, the driver drops you on a permitted route and you walk the rest.
A Sprinter van gives you the most flexibility here. Staying in the CBD or the Warehouse District keeps the ride into the Quarter short, and a smaller vehicle makes the curbside stop quicker.

Garden District tours: keep it under 20 seats
The Garden District bans buses with more than 20 seats, with only a few permitted exceptions. A Sprinter van of 17 to 19 passengers fits under that line, and so does a 16- to 19-seat minibus. A larger group can split across two Sprinter vans, or plan a walking tour that starts from a stop the operator confirms.
River Road plantations and day trips
Whitney Plantation is about 46 miles west and Oak Alley about 53, so a group can see one or both in a comfortable day. Baton Rouge and Biloxi are each roughly 80 to 90 miles out. For a family or school group, a minibus with a driver makes these days calmer: nobody navigates, and the driver waits while you tour.
Wedding nights, bachelorette parties and game days
A party bus rental suits a wedding party moving between ceremony, photos and reception, or a bachelorette crew hopping between dinner and live music. Give us every address, including French Quarter stops, so the operator can plan around the bus routes.
For a Saints game at the Caesars Superdome or a Pelicans game next door at the Smoothie King Center, the driver drops and collects at an agreed spot nearby. Visiting for Carnival? Our Mardi Gras page has the 2027 dates.
Questions
Can a minibus take us into the Garden District?
Not if it seats more than 20, apart from a few permitted exceptions. A minibus of 16 to 19 seats, or a Sprinter van of 17 to 19, stays under that line.
Can the driver wait outside our French Quarter hotel?
Only for loading, which is capped at 15 minutes, and buses must keep to signed routes. Be ready at the curb when the vehicle arrives.
How far is the airport from downtown New Orleans?
Downtown is roughly 15 miles from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International. Share your flight numbers and the pickup will track the actual landing.
